Quote from GuLLiT :I'm sorry, I missed this.

There you go. The easiest way is to make the shortcut, if you like the less easy way you could enter it in the runbox (start-run or [win]+[r]).

Thanks man

In the United States, Canada and Mexico they have the dual speedometers on every car (US being MPH first, Canada and Mexico Km/H first)

EDIT: Speedometer on a US spec Saturn Vue

I don't think there was an official version of Tweak Y, so chances are it's a rare find. Tweak Z though is pretty good though. You can't adjust the RPM, but you can change the number of gears.
MPH / Km/H Speedometer

Right now, depends on whether you use MPH or Km/H, only one unit shows up in your speedometer. However, most cars have one predominate unit on the outside then an auxiliary unit on the inside, like this;

So, depending on whether you choose MPH or Km/H as your main unit, it should be set up like this (MPH outside, Km/H inside or vice versa)

How can I get the debug up? I read the readme but it doesn't make sense to me. Where do I put the /gui or whatever?

Yes, cool...but complicated! I'm no electronics expert but I think it would be very difficult to do this using the parallel port, so a USB system would probably be needed and they are more complicated.
Doppler Effect on horns
Nick.

I noticed that if you watch cars in view 5 (spectator view) there is a Doppler effect on the car's engine sounds, but not the horns. In real life, it sounds something like this but LFS is like this (I made the video)

I think it would be an easy fix since there's already something there to make a Doppler effect

Quote from J@tko :I have no idea

Its in a dds file somewhere

The DDS file doesn't change the color, just the texture. It's in the programming files, not the visual files.

Will apply tonight before the race.

So finally after all these years I am about to embark upon running LFS.

Had the simulation for a long time but until it became part of R2P has sat on the side for me, due to have so many sims and so little time.

But now I am interested in knowing the best settings for my DFP, and anything else I need to know.

We have a few practice races coming up so any help gratefully accepted.

Cheers

This looks really good - thanks SR. I'm looking forward to getting back in the FOX after quite a long spell off.

Are the track selections random or is there a pre-selected list? If so could you please publish it as I need to get a bit of practice in before I go online. Thanks

There is no need to pay!

Please guys lets not battle about this, yes you can pay to race at R2P if you wish, but there is no need to.

Again I say I am delighted to see LFS now included, please let us all enjoy LFS however we wish to.

Each to their own would be great.
Evolution Motorsports at Race2Play

Hi folks,

Evolution Motorsports has been set up at Race2Play as a sister team to the highly successful Pinnacle Motorsports.

With the impending arrival of LFS to Race2Play, I would be very interested in hearing from experienced LFS drivers who would like to join us, or discuss all aspects of LFS.

A number of test races have been set up, prior to official events beginning in April, and anyone who would like to race with and for us is welcome to get in touch. We have minimal experience of LFS as a team, but with the right people involved feel that we can make the most of this simulation going forward.

Thanks in advance

Nick

I am delighted to see that, despite various issues, Race2Play has finally got Live for Speed in a position to be used within the service.

LFS has been one of those "on the shelf" sims that I have not really touched because there is so much else about.

However LFS (and Netkar Pro) appearing is great news, and the tester series being provided will give us a great idea of what we can expect as and when the series are expanded. I really look forward to getting stuck into LFS now.

I have read the thread linked to, I did 2 years ago when it was more relevant and the opinions in there a little more raw, I would hope that would be left and the future allowed to develop.

Yeah, the different compounds has been suggested but this got me thinking when he said the percent wear...I know the F9 view allows you to see the temps, pressures, and the tire thicknesses, but what about a visual that shows the percent wear with and actual number? It's rather hard to tell the difference in thickness by just a little image. It'd be easier to judge when to pit also whilst racing so that you don't over run your tires and blow one out and to limit the number of pit stops you take.

Well, thanks to all of you who decided to yell at me more for putting this thread in the wrong section and less telling me your opinion on the idea...
Universal Monetary System
Nick.

So, on the majority of cruise servers, there is a system that deals with money, either gain it by driving, steal, or having it sent to you. I was thinking, what if all the money you had from different cruise servers was put on to your username and used on any server? Like you have €5,000 on one server and €470,000 on another, your total would be €475,000 (it would be in Euros, of course, since the majority of cruise servers already are). It wouldn't be limited to cruise servers, though, such as winning pots from race servers. For 25 or more racers, you could win €10,000 for 1st, €5,000 for second, etc, but for small races, like 4 or 5 racers, it could be more like €1,000 for 1st and €500 for second. Entry fees for tournements could also be a posibility.

To avoid cheating, refunding would have to be done away with or stay local to the server (i.e. if an admin refunds themself €100,000, the server money would be €575,000 but the universal total would still be €475,000).

Also, you would have the money from cruise servers you haven't joined yet. As soon as you join the server, the starting cash gets added to your total (i.e. if a server has a €4,000 starting total, you would add it to your universal total, €475,000 + €4,000 = €479,000)

XR View 1 Dash
Nick.
S2 licensed
Ok, this isn't a big problem, but it's really bothering me. Ever since the XR interior was updated, the analog gauges on the XRG and XRT are backwards! The speedometer is on the left and the tachometer on the right. It's only on the XRs and the 1st view, too. Every other car is right and if you got to any other view on the XRs, the virtual gauges are right, too.

Just a little pet peave. It's still pretty annoying, though

Quote from S14 DRIFT :Let's get S2 into a final state before adding glitzy effects that won't add that much. Most drivers know exactly where a track goes so having reduced visibility won't really do much.

I think it'd be great for cruise servers...makes it harder to avoid wrong-siders

In that case you need to put CE00 as the lpt address in the config.

As for the dot and LEDs, if they are atill misbehaving after correcting the lpt address their state may be inverted with the PCI lpt card. You can change that for each led in the config file - just swap the 1/0's after each LED definition.

Quote from NL_RevZ :Today i got mine working too, but there's one weird thing:
I have set the thing up so that the five LEDs are actually four LEDs on the board, and the one dot on the 7-segment display.
If ANY of those five lights turn on, any of the seven segments currently on will turn very VERY dim, you can barely even see that it's on anymore..

Why is this? i've already checked ALL the connections, they're not shorted anywhere on the board.

I can turn on all of those five extra lights on together, no problem at all, the same with turning on only all 7 segments, that works fine too!

Other than that this is a great thing

Strange one. Have you checked you used teh right resitors? Not sure what else it could be...
